Cabbies are living in fear after a spate of attacks involving bricks and rocks being hurled at their vehicles from a notorious bridge near KFC in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham at night.
At least 14 cars have been damaged since June leaving drivers petrified as well as suffering financial loss as they wait for repairs before they can get back on the road.
Stacey Jagger of Take Me Taxi revealed that the number of drivers willing to work night shifts has plummeted from 15 to just three.
Ms Jagger said: "They are scared of getting their vehicles attacked, they are scared that they will get attacked if they pull over to check.
"I have spoken to the police on a number of occasions and requested an increase in patrols which they said would happen but drivers haven't seen it."
Drivers describe the terrifying ordeal of being targeted while carrying passengers, with some narrowly avoiding injury.
Qamar Hussain, who had his back window smashed by a brick, said: "I'm terrified."
He added: "They threw a brick from the bridge and it hit the back window and smashed it. My friend got attacked at the same spot.
"I called the police, they didn't send anyone. The brick was still inside and glass everywhere and it took three days to clear up. I got glass on my hands.
"It cost £250 to repair and I lost one day of earnings."
Mohammed Younis, from Take Me Taxi, had a brick hit his windscreen while carrying passengers.
He said: "I was shocked, frightened and called the police. The passengers were scared too. I couldn't stop.
"It's going to cost £400 to repair and it's a rental car."
Andy William from Local Radio Cars, which also operates in the area, said his workers had also been pelted by missiles.
One of his drivers, Farooq Hussain, had a vodka bottle thrown at his vehicle on the Chester Road by the Centurion pub.
Mr Hussain said: "The windscreen was smashed, I was shaken up.
"It cost me £100 for the excess on my windscreen and I was quoted £600 to replace it because it is a hybrid electric and it has to be recalibrated.
"It took me two days to get booked in with Autoglass so I lost earnings. It's pure luck I wasn't injured."
West Midlands Police said: "The offender is believed to be using an e-bike to travel around Chelmsley Wood.
"We are continuing our plain clothes operations and have increased patrols in the area. We are doing everything we can to identify those involved."
The attack happened at around 12.45pm on Etruria Vale Road, Stoke, when the victim, driving a Toyota Avensis, was punched in the face by one of the men.
