A well-known Huntingdon taxi driver may never walk again after a serious collision on Friday morning, 2 August.
Ricky Harold, a 20-year veteran of the town’s taxi trade, was parked in a lay-by when his vehicle was struck from behind by a black Audi A2.
The impact is said to have propelled the taxi 20 metres along the road.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12.45am and Mr Harold was cut free from the wreckage before being taken to hospital for surgery on a broken spine.
His family have been told there is only a one per cent chance of him walking again.
A 23-year-old man from Peterborough has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving.
Mr Harold’s daughter, Ashleigh, has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover her father’s immediate financial commitments.
The family is aiming to raise £3,000 to support him during his recovery.
“Our dad is the heart and soul of our family,” she said. “This has turned our world upside down.”
