At 1.30am on 12 May 2024 a taxi driver picked up two male passengers from Chorley taxi rank.
They wanted to go to Houghton, however, when they were close to Houghton, the passengers then said they wanted to go Bolton.
The driver told them it’s the opposite way but the passengers said 'don't worry it’s fine, we will pay'.
But when they got to Bolton and he asked for £75 taxi fare, the passenger in the back who was from Bolton started abusing the driver as recorded below:
“Go to your hajj.
“Go and pray to your f****ng god.
“Go back home.
“F****ng temples everywhere, breeding us out.
“You’re a f****ng rag head, you horrible bas***d.
“You’re a f****ng Muslim and you want to do hajj yh, and you want to f****ng rag me like the rest of your caste because your breeding us out of this f****ng country.
“Go and enjoy your hajj coz I know what you are.
“I am not paying you £75, I would rather slit my own throat and do hajj.”
The driver made him aware multiple times that he was being recorded and that he will be reported to the police but he carried on saying , “call the police.”
As the whole trip was recorded, this evidence was shown to the police who prosecuted the passenger.
He pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in April.
